Paperdoll

In 2006 I got an assignment to make illustrations for a paperdollbook 'Tempoe Doeloe' about Indonesian culture before the country became independent:
It was presented at the Pasar Malam.I worked for a couple of months on it and the client showed me the batikdesign cloths that were used for each culture in Indonesia.
I started studying other paperdollbooks for inspiration and discovered them on the internet. As I enjoyed Beauty and the Beast very much I made some papercrafts for the mailinglist I was a member of at the time and made a moveble paperdoll of Catherine Chandler and some other papercrafts.

I realy enjoyed making my own paperdolls of characters I like so I decided to make an Ugly Betty doll.
The fun with this character was all those weird colourful outfits.
 I loved that butterflycostume!
I draw the figures with pencil, ink them on my lightbox, copy them on thicker A4 paper and then the most fun part starts: colouring with ecoline :) I have used Photoshop occasionaly to colour an illustration but I prefer my brushes and ecoline. Also I am much faster this way than on a computer; I still have to learn more about those programs.

I am planning to post more about this later...
